The third LNG Terminal borders a millennia-old algal reef landscape, home to protected wildlife such as the Chaishan caryophyllid coral and the little tern. Balancing development with ecological conservation has become the terminal's greatest challenge. CPC have promoted numerous marine and terrestrial ecological monitoring and investigation projects. The monitoring scope covers macroalgae, benthic fauna, fish, birds and coral.
