National Museum of Natural Science
Since its establishment in 1986, the National Museum of Natural Science has grown its collection from scratch and is now the largest natural history collection in Taiwan. The biological collection has more than one million specimens, encompassing vascular and non-vascular plants, fungi (including lichens), invertebrates, insects, amphibians and reptiles, birds, and animals, predominantly featuring species from Taiwan and its neighboring regions. In the context of the Anthropocene era, the museum's extensive collection not only serves a wealth of biodiversity data for studying spatial and temporal distribution of species and their response to the environmental changes, but also stands as a vital resource preserving invaluable natural history heritage for the future generations.
